Flowing movements, based on imagination and improvisation of the artists as a kind of free dance, influenced by the style of the nineteen-twenties, is significant for the Butoh-dance. Ushio Amagatsu, who founded the japanese dance troupe Sankai Juku belongs to the second generation of Butoh-dancers. He created „TOBARI" with a series of seven scenic Tableaux which are melting together and express scenes of birth, death and resurrection within a cosmic transmigration on a magic flow of time and space. |

During this exciting tour, we visited Frankfurt’s main railway station and red-light district. No other quarter in Frankfurt is more contradictory than this district: beside prostitution and fancy restaurants you can find shops for everything else, too. On one hand, a quarter full of taboos but also a fascinating hot spot situated between the bank district and the museum waterside. The tour guide introduced us into the quarter with exciting stories and led us to the most important sights of the district. |

In the course of this workshop, we learned how to produce brilliant pictures with the oldest way of photography, the pinhole camera. We learned the fascinating and very simple technique and captured a variety of images. At a hidden convenient place near the waterside, we found a lot of beautiful motifs and useful supplies for creative art images. |

It was produced in partnership with the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and introduced us to the culture of academia in a unique and funny way. We followed four graduate students on their way to find the balance between research, teaching and their personal lives … |

Johann Wolfgang Goethe was born in 1749 and spent his childhood in Frankfurt. Not only has Goethe-University been named after him, many sights and institutions all over the city are also connected to his name. During a guided tour, we learned about the city of Frankfurt in Goethe’s time: the school he visited, the Goethe Memorial and his place of birth. After the guided tour we visited the Christmas market, which is one of the largest in Germany with up to 250 booths and stalls around the Römerberg. |
