The Senckenberg Museum is one of the largest Natural History Museums in Germany with an impressive collection of fossils. The exhibition addressed both the biodiversity and the topic of nature conservation. During the tour we discovered the exhibition and the museum as a place of modern research.

The Taunus Observatory - A Feldberg Tour

In the course of this event, we had the opportunity to learn more about the Taunus Observatory. Since 1914 the Observatory is part of the Faculty of Meteorology and Geophysics of the Goethe-University Frankfurt. Besides research and teaching, the collected meteorological and seismographic data is used for documentation of seismic activity worldwide. After a short walk through the Taunus, we enjoyed an impressive view to Frankfurt´s skyline from the observation platform above the city.

The headquarters of the public broadcasting organization of Hessia is located in the radio and television station at Dornbusch in Frankfurt. As a founding member and shareholder of the ARD-media company, the “Hessischer Rundfunk” (HR) is required by law to provide a certain amount of informational and educational contents, in contrast to private media companies. We were guided through the headquarters of the most important public broadcast organization in Hessia.

Breaking the Code - A play of the English Theater

Alan Turing was an English mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst, and computer scientist. He highly influenced the development of computer science when providing formalizations of concepts like the Turing machine which played a significant role in the creation of the modern computers. He not only masterminded the cracking of the German Enigma code, one of the greatest achievements of World War II, he also formulated the concept and initial designs for a computer like we use it today. We visited an exceptional biographical drama about an eccentric genius who broke too many codes…
