Main Cruise – Frankfurt by boat
29. Juni 2022 | 15:40 Uhr
As part of our tour of cultural and historical sites, we’d like to invite you to a cruise on the river Main. The tour will start at “Eiserner Steg” in the city center and will lead us past the picturesque banks of the river Main and the stunning sight of the ECB. After a detour through the Frankfurt Osthafen, the ship will make a turn in front of the historic Gerbermühle and we’ll sail back towards Frankfurt along the Museumsufer to the Westhafen/Schleuse Griesheim. As we relax with a coffee and cake or cold beer, we’ll get to enjoy a fantastic view of the skyline. The trip will be commentated in German and English and its duration will be approx. 100 min.
The event will take place on Wednesday 29 June 2022. We’ll meet at 3.40 pm at the bridge „Eiserner Steg“ on the Frankfurt side (the side of Römer and Dom), directly by the river bank.
Hiking in the Wetterau
28.05.2022 | 10:30 h
North of Frankfurt begins a natural landscape of outstanding beauty. Crossed by several rivers, between the Taunus Mountains and the Vogelsberg, lies the Wetterau. In its long history, it was inhabited by Celts and Romans, and with its meadow orchards, river meadows, rough grasslands, rolling hills and forests, it provides a habitat for over 5,000 animal and plant species. We would like to get to know this important cultural and natural landscape on a hike.
The hike takes about 3 hours and covers 8.5 km, which we will walk at a leisurely pace. After the tour we will have a nice get-together and are expected to be back in Frankfurt at 17:30. We will meet on Saturday, 28.05. at 10:30 at Frankfurt Main Station, at the beginning of platform 14.
Please notice that registration is open until 26 May 2022. Participation is free. Maximal number of participants is limited to 20 persons. For questions or suggestions concerning the Social Event, feel free to contact me at EichinGonzalez@grade.uni-frankfurt.de
A City Joins In – Frankfurt and Nazism
22 February 2022 | 16.15 h | History Museum Frankfurt
Two years after the racist murders of Hanau and 75 years after the end of Nazi rule, the Frankfurt History Museum is offering a special exhibition on the aftermath of the Nazi era.
Before 1933, still strongly influenced by its Jewish history and the highest proportion of Jewish population of the major German cities, liberal and democratic Frankfurt very quickly and radically submitted to National Socialism. The central theme of the exhibition is the participation of the Frankfurt population, between political inaction, turning a blind eye, profiteering and blind obedience. It takes visitors to typical urban places such as shops, streets and universities, along with their stories, to illustrate this process.
After the tour we will have a nice get-together!
Please note: For the visit of the exhibition the 2-G-plus rule applies: Vaccinated or recovered with a daily negative rapid test from an official test centre. For triple vaccinated persons the test proof is waived.
We will meet on Tuesday, 22.02. at 16:15 at the main entrance of History Museum Frankfurt.
Registration is open until 20 February 2022. Participation is free. Maximal number of participants is limited to 15 persons. For questions or suggestions concerning the Social Event, feel free to contact.
