Dr. Frauke Fischer is a wildlife biologist by training, studied in Frankfurt an the USA, and did her PhD in Würzburg.
She has worked as the director of the Tropical Biology Research Station in the Comoé NP (Côte d’Ivoire) and conservation projects in countries like Tanzania, Brazil and others.

In 2003 she founded “auf!” - the first business consultancy focussing on biodiversity issues on the corporate level. auf! provides scientific expertise on biodiversity, climate change and sustainability. Dr. Fischer designs and evaluates projects in the fields of biodiversity conservation, climate protection, and CSR – for both the private and public sector. Dr. Fischer was awarded with the Ford Motor Company Conservation Award in 2001 and the Sustainability Award of the University of Würzburg for her “Plastic Summer School” in 2018. As education is crucial part for the re-thinking of your economic system to a Green Economy, Dr. Frauke Fischer founded “Green Economy Academy” together with like-minded people to bring innovations quicker to the market.

In 2015, she founded PERÚ PURO GmbH with a colleague, to open up direct access to the European cocoa and chocolate market to a small cocoa farmers' cooperative in Peru.  The motto: Better than organic. More than fair. Pure enjoyment. She is the author of over 80 scientific papers and several books.

The Oeko-Institut is one of Europe’s leading independent research and consultancy organisations working for a sustainable future. Founded in 1977, it develops principles and strategies for realising the vision of sustainable development at global, national and local level. Based on value-oriented research, the Oeko-Institut provides consultancy services for decision-makers in politics, industry and civil society on topics such as Chemicals Management and Technology Assessment, Energy and Climate, Emission and Ambient Pollution Control, Radiation Protection, Agriculture and Biodiversity, Sustainable Consumption, Mobility, Resource Management and Industry, Nuclear Engineering and Facility Safety, and Law, Policy and Governance.

Since its establishment, the Oeko-Institut has worked across disciplines with partners from industry, academia and civil society, participating in joint projects and networks wherever this is helpful in terms of the issues being addressed. Its main clients include ministries at the federal and Land level, businesses and the European Union. It also takes on commissions from NGOs and environmental organisations. The Oeko-Institut is a non-profit association.

Jürgen Sutter is a biologist and worked as scientist at the Universität Hohenheim and the ETH Zürich before joining the Öko-Institut in 2011.  His main area is Resources & Transport, he has been involved for example in a project with the RWTH Aachen on lifecycle assessment of methyltetrahydrofuran ,methylfuran and butanone as tailor-made fuel components from biomass, or a project on the requirements for and first approaches to developing verification criteria for a climate-friendly and sustainable production of PtX.

Während sie vor wenigen Jahren noch über Küstenökosysteme geforscht hat, ist Dr. Frauke Müller heute Führungskraft bei der Deutschen Bahn. Ein Wechsel, über den die promovierte Landschaftsökologin zunächst viel gegrübelt, den sie aber nie bereut hat. Frau Dr. Müller ist aktuell für den Umweltschutz und die Lebensmittelsicherheit in der Sparte Personenverkehr der Deutschen Bahn zuständig. Sie ist außerdem als Auditorin an unterschiedlichen DB-Standorten unterwegs und prüft dort, ob alle Umweltvorgaben eingehalten werden. Im Career Talk wird Frau Dr. Müller ihre Tätigkeit beschreiben und erläutern, welche Rolle die Promotion heute noch für sie spielt. Außerdem wird sie aufzeigen, wie die Deutsche Bahn zum Umwelt-Vorreiter werden will und welche "grünen Berufe" im Unternehmen dazu einen Beitrag leisten.

The Climate Alliance was founded in 1990, mainly to take measures against climate change.  More than 1,700 cities, counties and municipalities as well as federal states and provinces, NGOs and other organisations throughout Europe form the network - measured by the number of members it is the world's largest city network for local climate protection measures. The participating cities, municipalities and rural districts, for example, have committed themselves to reducing CO₂ emissions by ten percent every five years, and commit themselves to refrain from using tropical timber and to use FSC-certified timber.

In the interest of its members at local, national, European and international levels, Climate Alliance deals with the topics of climate protection, biodiversity and tropical forest protection, but also with topics such as sustainable mobility, the international climate process, the energy landscape and climate justice.

Dr. Kathrin Jurisch works at the Climate Alliance European Secretariat in Frankfurt. Here is also home of the German National Coordination Office, which coordinates work on German policy, communication with German members and organises the annual German "Kommunale Klimaschutz" conference. Dr. Kathrin Jurisch did her PhD in the Faculty of Biology at the Goethe University, in the Institute for Ecology, evolution and diversity. She is also very active with the BUND, an NGO dedicated to preserving nature and protecting the environment with some 480.000 members.  She is happy to discuss her career path and job opportunities in the area of sustainability, as well as voluntary activities to protect the environment.

Seit Anfang September 2018 leitet Frau Dr. Katja Heubach den Frankfurter Palmengarten. Die Diplom-Biologin hat an der Goethe-Universität Biologie studiert, und ihre Doktorarbeit im Rahmen des LOEWE-Projekts Bik-F über Wildpflanzennutzung in der westafrikanischen Savanne am Senckenberg Biodiversität und Klima Forschungszentrum in Benin und Burkina Faso geschrieben. Anschließend arbeitete sie am Helmholtz-Zentrum für Umweltforschung im Bereich Naturschutzforschung in Leipzig und als Beraterin bei der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Eschborn. Bei diesem Karrieregespräch wird sie über ihre Erfahrungen und ihren Karriereweg, über Möglichkeiten und Ideen im Bereich Biodiversität sprechen und freut sich auf rege Beteiligung.

Die DECHEMA ist das kompetente Netzwerk für chemische Technik und Biotechnologie in Deutschland. Sie vertritt als gemeinnützige Fachgesellschaft diese Gebiete in Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft, Politik und Gesellschaft, und fördert den technisch-wissenschaftlichen Austausch von Fachleuten unterschiedlicher Disziplinen, Organisationen und Generationen und bündeln das Know-How von über 5.800 Einzel- und Fördermitgliedern.

Tagungen, Symposien, Workshops und Weiterbildungskurse stellen die aktuellsten Fragen aus den Fachgebieten Chemie, Bioökonomie, Pharma, Medizintechnik, Energie & Klima, Wassermanagement sowie Rohstoffe in den Mittelpunkt.

Aufgrund der thematischen Vielfalt der Fachgremien, Veranstaltungen und Projekte agiert und kooperiert die DECHEMA über Fachgrenzen hinaus und identifiziert neue Trends in Forschung und Technik.

Das Ziel ist die Umsetzung von Forschungsergebnissen in technische Anwendungen, um so den Fortschritt in Chemischer Technik, Biotechnologie und verwandten Forschungsgebieten mit zu gestalten und somit Deutschland und Europa als wichtigen Chemie- und Biotechnologie-Standort zu stärken.

Dr. Dennis Becker studierte an der RWTH Aachen Biologie (2005-2011), seine Diplomarbeit fertigte er am Institut für Umweltforschung in der Arbeitsgruppe von Prof. Toni Ratte in Kooperation mit der North Carolina State University an zum Thema „Sensitivity distinctions of lotic insect larvea exposed to Imidacloprid“. Zur Promotion wechselte er 2012 nach Frankfurt in die Arbeitsgruppe Aquatische Ökotoxikologie von Prof. Jörg Oehlmann (FB15) zum Thema „Ecotoxicological assessment of a new enzymatic decontamination technology regarding the degradation of recalcitrant micropollutants in wastewater” und ist seit Oktober 2016 als Projektmanager in der Forschungskoordination bei der DECHEMA. Er arbeitet hauptsächlich an verschiedenen Projekten im Bereich Wassermanagement (insbesondere industrielles Wassermanagement) wie z.B. den BMBF geförderten Projekten MULTI-ReUse oder HighCon und dem EU-finanzierten Projekt INSPIREWATER. Besonderer Fokus der Projekte liegt auf einer effizienteren Wassernutzung und Wasserwiederverwendung bei gleichzeitiger Verringerung der Abhängigkeit von Wasserressourcen, der Reduzierung von Abwasser, Recycling von nutzbaren Rohstoffen und einer besseren Energieeffizienz. Neben der Projektarbeit gehört es auch zum Verantwortungsbereich Veranstaltungen wie die „Spurenstoffe und Krankheitserreger im Wasserkreislauf“ oder „Industrial Water“ zu planen und organisieren, an neuen Forschungsanträgen mit zu schreiben oder Fachartikel zu veröffentlichen.
