RMU Postdoc Career Weeks 2022

In April 2022, TU Darmstadt organized the RMU Postdoc Career Weeks, offering early career researchers a rich and varied program spread across four weeks. Most sessions were held online, with selected in-person events providing opportunities for direct exchange. A particular highlight was the opening event on April 1, which, after a long pandemic break, took place on campus.

The event kicked off with a keynote on the pressing topic of science communication by Dr. Patrick Honecker, Chief Communications Officer and member of the TU Darmstadt executive board. Throughout the program, participants had the chance to engage with professionals from academia, industry, research management, and the start-up scene—gaining valuable perspectives on different career options and transitions.

The program featured a range of online formats, including:

  • Decision-making support for doctoral candidates

  • Peer counselling sessions tailored to postdocs

  • Webcasts on applying for postdoctoral positions and professorships

  • Personalized career coaching and advice on securing research funding

  • Insights into communicating science effectively across different contexts
