Join Dr. Clara Brieke, Director at Simon-Kucher, as she shares her personal journey from academic research to strategic consulting in the life sciences industry.

After completing a PhD in Chemistry at Goethe University’s Heckel Lab, followed by a Postdoc and several years of research on own research topics at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research in Heidelberg, she decided to shift gears and pursued a part-time MBA to explore new career paths beyond academia.

Today, Clara leads projects in the Life Sciences Division at Simon-Kucher, focusing on pricing strategies for innovative therapies and early market potential assessments for both major pharmaceutical firms and cutting-edge biotech start-ups. As a specialist in Germany’s AMNOG process, she has guided companies in crafting and executing price negotiation strategies that optimize access and value.

In this session, Clara will reflect on the parallels and differences between science and consulting, why it is interesting to consider a career in consulting, and why it is a fulfilling job. You’ll also gain insights into the challenges that innovative therapies face after clinical development and regulatory approval—factors that increasingly shape decision-making in pharmaceutical development. Learn why “thinking from the end” is critical in bringing innovations to patients.
