eLearning Project DiLER
The DiLER project (Digital Literacy for Empirical Research, funded by DigiTeLL) supports students, educators, and researchers in building and strengthening key digital skills for empirical science. All content is fully open, free of charge, and focused on practical, hands-on solutions.
The project offers free, publicly accessible, barrier-free online courses intended to teach essential digital skills such as information and media literacy, usage of research tools, adoption of open science practices, and digital collaboration, as well as the creation of modern teaching materials or lab notebooks.
Our materials are available as self-paced online courses with step-by-step tutorials and practical examples, which can additionally be easily integrated into teaching and training contexts.
Currently, two courses are available:
- Creating Interactive Content with Jupyter Book: Introduces participants to open-source tools for building accessible, engaging online teaching materials. The course provides a ready-to-use template and guides participants through the process of creating and publishing their own online course or website. No prior technical knowledge required.
- Digital Literacy in Empirical Research: Explores fundamental concepts of digital literacy and how they apply throughout the research process in academic settings. Designed for an audience of interested bachelor/master students and early-stage researchers, this course covers essential skills and tools to navigate and communicate effectively in the digital academic world. Topics include information and media literacy, ethical considerations, digital collaboration, and science communication.
DiLER not only promotes the use of digital tools and skill sets but also provides in-depth knowledge on how to pursue scientific and academic endeavors in an open, inclusive, and future-oriented way.
